Links I like Thursday: 15 Ted Talks about Age and Dying

9:00:00 PM

I
t was when I was watching the last installment of Harry Potter, a dialogue between Harry and Sirius in the Forbidden Forest when this idea hit me. Death. Yes, I find it fascinating that I head to Ted.com to find talks about death and came up with a video list about age and dying.

1. Steve Jobs: How to live before you die. Watch the video

Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

2. David R. Dow: Lessons from death row inmates

People might disagree about whether [a murderer] should have been executed. But I think everybody would agree that the best possible version … would be a story where no murder ever occurs.

3.Peter Saul: Let’s talk about dying

4.Joan Halifax: Compassion and the true meaning of empathy

5.Charity Tillemann-Dick: Singing after a double lung transplant

6.Candy Chang: Before I die I want to...

7.Laura Carstensen: Older people are happier

8.Alanna Shaikh: How I'm preparing to get Alzheimer's

9.Ramona Pierson: An unexpected place of healing

10.Dan Buettner: How to live to be 100+

11.Philip Zimbardo: The psychology of time

12. Kevin Stone: The bio-future of joint replacement

13. Jane Fonda: Life's third act

14. Randy Pausch: Really achieving your childhood dreams. Watch the video

Too many people go through life complaining about their problems. I've always believed that if you took one tenth the energy you put into complaining and applied it to solving the problem, you'd be surprised by how well things can work out

15. Jill Bolte Taylor's stroke of insight
